HPV Education for Dental Professionals and Patients

Dental professionals have an opportunity to educate patients and parents on the link between HPV and oropharyngeal cancers. Review resources shared by the Washington State HPV Task Force.

The Washington State HPV Task Force shares the following message and resources regarding talking to your patients about HPV vaccination.

"The mission of the Washington State HPV Task Force is to increase HPV vaccination rates in Washington state and reduce the amount of HPV associated disease by engaging and supporting diverse partners and increasing knowledge about HPV and cancer prevention. Dental professionals have an opportunity to educate patients and parents on the link between HPV and oropharyngeal cancers. The community outreach workgroup of the task force focuses on interventions from community partners that can increase access to HPV screenings and vaccinations. Linked below are resources that deliver continuing education to dental professionals. Resources also include ways to advocate for HPV vaccination while encouraging oral health professionals to refer patients for vaccinations. We encourage you to share these resources with others."
