SB 5351 — WSDA’s dental benefits reform bill — is in the Rules Committee, the last step before moving to the floor of the Washington State Senate. As we shared on February 21, SB 5351 was voted unanimously out of the Senate Committee on Health & Long-Term Care. The amended bill makes meaningful progress on all four of the major policy issues we proposed in our original legislation, including:
- Prohibiting same-day denials
- Restricting fees associated with virtual credit cards
- Setting a dental loss ratio threshold
- Establishing non-network reimbursement fairness
